We use a local anesthesia called lidocaine in all our oral surgeries, even when other forms of anesthesia are used. Lidocaine is applied directly to the surgical site to calm any sensations of pain in the area.
Commonly called “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is an inhaled gas with calming and mild pain-relieving effects. It has been used in dentistry for decades, often in conjunction with local anesthetics.
Intravenous (IV) sedation, also called “twilight sedation,” makes it possible for a patient to not feel any pain relating to their procedure. In fact, it is so effective that they may not even remember their treatment!
